Major Project TERM III - Production and Post-production PART II
With basically all of the footage shot, now I am spending my remaining time on the editing. I still need to do a few minor reshoots but overall I am all done with the production part of this project.
During filming I encountered a few problems. The major one was that the lights at skatepark at night were off, so there was no way of shooting this part of the film. I decided to come back to previous draft of the script and shoot the part version of this scene.
I also had some problems with the ending, the part which I edited this week, I think I shot around five different variations of this scene. I am happy with how it turned out in the end but overall I had a really hard time with it. The shots which I initially thought of did not work that well in the actual shoot, so I had to make some changes.
On the other hand I had a really great time shooting in the supermarket, noone was bothering and I finished faster than I anticipated.
The editing process with my commentary in a form of captions can be viewed below, and the final scene can be watched after the editing montage.
As you can see I changed quite a bit in this sequence. It is much longer than the one in the script, but I think it works really well. I also decided on using a classical piece 'Lacrimosa' which now can be used freely, since Mozart died over 100 years ago.
As for the other music I am using in my film, the main theme of the film was done by my friend Oliwier Rostowski and he agreed that I can use it in my film. I will also use some more music which is royalty free, and I will make sure to give the proper credit to the authors.
The last thing I changed from the script is the numeration of the acts. I found that the quickly changing scenery can be quite confusing for a new viewer and I feel like this way it will make more sense. The visual indicator that we are in a new part of the film and maybe some time has past between the scenes will make the story clearer.
Since the new ending is three times as long as the original was, the runtime of the film will be longer than I initially anticipated. Now we are looking at around six to six and a half minutes, compared to previously expected five.
Now I am in a process of editing the sequence in the shop, and I still have to edit the park scene and a chase scene. I think that with the workflow I am currently in I will finish the entire film in the following week.
