Icebreaker - Self Portrait
Our first assignment this term was to create a self portrait in 15 minutes. I have decided to make a photograph inspired by mentioned in previous post technique of drawing with light.
During these few minutes I did not have too much time to shoot many options, therefore I had to work with what I had, and in the photos I took the lines created by the light strokes are not exactly matching the shape of my face.
After choosing best photos, I quickly exported them to Adobe Photoshop, and changed the blending mode to 'Lighten', so only the light strokes were visible on all the layers.
Photos were shot on Panasonic G7 17mm F5.4 SS1' ISO800
I am satisfied with the end result, as for a 15 minute assignment the final edit come out quite well. If I had a bit more time I would make sure that my head does not move, and that I am doing light strokes in the right places.
As I am thinking about after a while I could have shot the elements on black background without myself, and place it in the correct size on top of my face. This way it would be more precise.
Nevertheless, as I said above I am satisfied with the outcome, while it is created in the media of my continuation route it also merges two photography worlds, the in camera techniques of long exposure and light painting, with the digital techniques which I adore so much.

Nice work - following on from your inspiration in the first post however - I do think this probably took longer than 15 minutes!
