Major Project TERM II - early look into our inspirations

For this term's major project I will be researching expressionist artists as well as I will be researching different photography techniques.

As for the main inspiration in regards to composition and visual language of my final photos I will be taking an indepth look into cinematography in films from German Expressionism. These gothic and dark visuals will help me create my own photographs in style inspired by them. For this part of the research I will watch, research and reflect on films like 'Cabinet of Dr. Caligari' and 'Nosferatu'.

Another artist I will be researching for my major project is American photographer, Man Ray. While this experimental photographer was working more in cubistic and surrealistic trend, some of his photographs can be attached to expressionism, e.g. 'The Kiss', or 'The Glass Tears'. The visuals of these photographs are lining up with what I want to create.

Another photographer whose work I want to explore is Claude Cahun. Mainly created self-portraits, which in which she played different characters and through which wanted to change the concept of gender. My will also be  a series of autoportraits, therefore someone who was creating black and white unusual self-portraits will be a great inspiration to me.
