David Bowie - Reflections after lecture

Last week we were listening to a lecture about David Bowie.

David Bowie

Born in London in 1947 David Bowie was fascinated by the world of music to a degree that as barely 22 year old recorded his first hit album, 'Space Oddity'. Which throughout the years was used in countless motion pictures, for example in one of my favourite films in regards of cinematography, 'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty' directed by Ben Stiller.

'The Secret Life of Walter Mitty'

I personally admire David Bowie for his acting performances rather than his music, even though I am an admirer of those as well. It was always a pleasure to see him in a film, especially as a cameo of some sort. Especially memorable for me was his role in 'Prestige' directed by Christopher Nolan, where he played Nikola Tesla.

As for his other work I cannot say that I am the biggest fan of it. I always found his paintings unfinished and sometimes even childish. However I am not an immense admirer of expressionistic paintings. However I still feel like something like 'Scream' by Edvard Munch is far more mature in its form then the artworks done by David Bowie.
