Welcome back! - A start of the last term
Welcome to the first post from the last term.
In this term this blog will be used for presenting work progress from the Art Portfolio Module.
This term we will be creating a major projects, which later will be placed in our portfolios. In this course I hope to make a further progress in my photography skills and techniques as well as expand my knowledge on those.
During the break I was looking a lot into the paintings of Edward Hopper. While I was interested in his work for a while now, during these two weeks I had time to actually examine his paintings closely.
It is fascinating how much his artworks and photography is alike. Hopper is using similar composition techniques and framing found in best photographs of this kind. His isolated characters, uninterrupting camera, and hard differentiation between light and shadow.
Edward Hopper's work feels very grounded and at the same time the characters presented in the scene feel like they are the only one in the world right now, like they are the most important and nothing else matters. It is a very difficult to achieve, this level of immersion with the artwork and it is something that really resonates with me.

A well-written post on a painter who has a strong relationship with photography and cinematography.
