Skills practise - Learning paper folding techniques

During today's class we were practising card folding in order to improve our models. While this class was more focused on the Architecture student I was more interested in this, than the other one since I feel better about my abilities in sculpting and 3D mediums in general.

Because I had some past with origami the presented techniques were not new to me, interesting nonetheless. Below you can view the basic constructions we did during the class.

After this introduction we had to create something by ourselves based on the presented mockup. I decided to create this model of a building in the foreground with a city skyline in the background.

And lastly we had to create something from our own imagination. I started creating mine artwork in class and finished afterwards. I decided to keep in theme with the creation above and created a popup card of skyline of my hometown, Wrocław. I also added a starry night sky and a big moon luring behind the buildings.

I felt like it was not enough and decided to paint a river and reflections of the city in the water. Below you can view the final artwork.

I've never done a popup anything before so I am pleased with the results. I think the skyline part could be a bit taller, it would look more three dimensional than it looks now. But other than that I am happy with how it turned out.
